Tension headaches are different than migraines or other types of headaches. Typical symptoms of tension headaches can include pain at the top of the head, above the eyes and sides of the head. Often the base of the skull, neck and shoulders will be tight and sore as well and things get worse as the day goes on. You may have trouble concentrating and focusing on things as the headache worsens.
The causes of tension headaches can vary. Bad posture, extended periods of computer or desk work, stress, tight and stiff muscles of the back and neck as well as restricted mobility in the neck have all been related to the cause of tension headaches.
